The Fighting God
In 2 Chron. 14:9 we find that a huge army
is coming against Asa.
“And there came out against them
Zerah the Ethiopian with an host of a thousand thousand, and
three hundred chariots; and came unto Mareshah”
What did Asa do?
He did not go to man for help.
On the contrary we find in 2 Chron. 14:11
“And Asa cried unto the Lord his God,
and said, Lord, it is nothing with thee to help, whether with
many, or with them that have no power: help us, O Lord our
God; for we rest on thee, and in thy name we go against this
multitude. O Lord, thou art our God; let not man prevail
against thee”.
Asa went straight to the Lord and said to
the Lord “Lord, it is nothing with thee to help, whether
with many, or with them that have no power: help us, O Lord
our God; for we rest on thee, and in thy name we go against
this multitude. O Lord, thou art our God; let not man prevail
against thee”.
In other words the secret of Asa was that
he rested on the lord
And secondly decided to go against this
multitude not with His own strength but in the name of the
Lord.
Today this is what God expects when we
are being attacked by the enemy.
He desires that we trust Him and rely on
Him.
Note the words of Asa. “O Lord, thou art
our God; let not man prevail against thee”.
He did not say “Let not man prevail
against me. He said “Let not man prevail against thee”.
What happened?
2 Chron. 14:12 "So the Lord smote the
Ethiopians before Asa and before Judah; and the Ethiopians
fled".
The Lord smote the Ethiopians before Asa
and Judah and the Ethiopians fled.
Observe it was the Lord who smote the
Ethiopians not Asa.
Asa had no role. It was the Lord who
fought for Asa.
Yes my dear child of God, our God is one
who fights for us against our enemies.
When you are attacked by the enemy, do
not be afraid. Do not Panic or become confused. Just lean on
God and His word. Rest on Him. He will never fail you. He will
fight for you and you are assured of victory.
May God Almighty bless you.
